Residence Life Coordinator: University of West Florida

The University of West Florida is seeking a Residence Life Coordinator to oversee two residence halls and the graduate assistant for residence life programming. Candidates must have a creative vision to further develop an educational, social and safe living community for an area of 500+ students.

The Residence Life Coordinator position is a 12 month live-on professional position reporting to the Assistant Director, Residence Life. This position will supervise two Graduate Hall Directors and one Graduate Assistant for Residence Life Programming. The position oversees our Oracle program (second year experience program) in Presidents Hall, a new residence hall opening this fall.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in college student personnel, and full-time residence hall professional experience preferred. Bachelor’s Degree Required. Preference may be given to candidates with post-master’s experience. Knowledge of student learning, second year student initiatives, living/learning models and creating safe, diverse and welcoming residence life communities and environments is highly desired. Experience and/or knowledge of Residence Life, crisis intervention, student development theory, programming, judicial, experience consulting with guests/groups/ customers in order to determine objectives/requirements for conferences and reviewing event bills for accuracy/payment.

COMPENSATION:
Compensation includes a furnished apartment on campus, which includes all utilities, cable TV, washer/dryer, internet access, phone service, meal plan and professional development opportunities. Salary range is $29,500 – $33,000.

ABOUT UWF:
The University of West Florida (UWF) is one of 11 universities in the State University System (SUS) of Florida and sits on 1,600 acres that includes nature trails and a wildlife preserve. UWF is the largest university in the SUS in terms of acreage. UWF was founded in 1967 as an upper division institution. In 1983,UWF enrolled the first freshman class.

Despite the economic downturn, UWF is a growing and thriving institution. In Fall 2011, UWF enrolled 12,156 students achieving its 12,000-student enrolment goal one year early. Enrolment has grown consistently for several years particularly in regards to the FTIC population. A record freshman class of 1,463 entered in Fall 2011. The freshman class goal for Fall 2012 is 1,700. A new 252-bed residence hall opened in 2010; a companion facility will open in Fall 2012 raising the residential population to over2,000. A new Health and Wellness Center opened in August 2011. A new College of Business will open in Fall 2012. Recent university wide initiatives include Athletic Visioning, Academic Visioning, Campus Master Planning, Football Feasibility, Direct Admit Program and the return of Friday classes. The 2012-2017 strategic planning process is well underway.
