“The Globalization of Higher Education Policy vis-à-vis International Organizations (IOs)”
This talk will introduce and highlight the role of four key international organizations involved in the globalization of higher education policy, namely the World Bank (WB), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the European Union (EU). Using current higher education policy examples, it will illuminate how these IOs act as discursive forces, networker and coordinator, and the salience and mediation of IO policy influences. This talk will argue that the study of IOs is integral to understanding the globalization of higher education policy.
