September 14, 2012

Registration is now open for the Teacher Education Study in Mathematics (TEDS-M) workshop, which will be held Oct. 5-7 in Erickson Hall, located on Michigan State University’s campus in East Lansing, Mich.

Offered by the TEDS-M International Research Center, the workshop will show attendees how to use international data from the TEDS-M study of the policies, programs and outcomes of mathematics pre-service teacher education in 17 countries.

Instructed by Maria Teresa Tatto and Michael Rodriguez, the workshop will also examine the theory and practice of teacher education. Specifically, mathematics teacher education and its impact as an important dimension of teacher quality. Researchers collected data from representative national samples. Surveys and testing included some 24,000 future teachers and close to 5,000 instructors, from 500 higher education institutions.

Space is limited to 40 participants and the registration deadline is Oct. 1. The workshop does require that participants have a good knowledge of research methods, regression and SPSS. The cost to register is $350, and the workshop is being offered to graduate students at a reduced cost of $175.
