Richard Prawat has recently been reappointed as chairperson of the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education (CEPSE).
Prawat has served as chairperson of CEPSE since April 1991. He is also a professor of educational psychology and teacher education within MSU’s College of Education, with research interests including teaching and learning for understanding and motivational processes in education.
“Professor Prawat has given two decades of service as chair of CEPSE, and we are appreciative of his contributions to the department and College of Education,” said Dean Donald E. Heller. “He received a unanimous endorsement from the CEPSE Faculty Advisory Committee for his reappointment as chair, and I concur with their assessment. I am pleased that he has agreed to serve another term as chair.”
Prawat joined the college’s faculty in 1978, when he began serving as an associate professor. During his tenure, multiple program offerings have been added, with plans to add additional online programs. The CEPSE department hosts two of the largest fully online master’s degree programs.
