CED Storytelling Night
April 15, 2022 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm EDT
Reaching Home
For this event’s theme, we invite you to bundle yourselves up in nostalgia, childhood, growing up and come share an evening with us with stories discussing the theme, “Reaching Home.” We invite you to come share stories about what is home. Keeping with the tradition of “The Moth,” this Storytelling Evening will bring together tales of experience and spirit from all members of the College of Education.
There will be an open mic following our guest storytellers for the evening! Sign up on the spot. If you have any questions, contact Darshana Devarajan (darshana@msu.edu). Light refreshments will be served.
Guest Storytellers: Shireen Al-Adeiemi (Assistant Professor, TE) & Jessica Reed (CITE doctoral student)
You won’t find a new country, you won’t find
another shore.
The city will always pursue you.
You’ll walk the same streets, grow old
in the same neighborhoods, turn gray in
these same houses.
You’ll always end up in this city. Don’t hope
for things elsewhere;
there’s no ship for you, there’s no road.
Now that you’ve wasted your life here, in
this small corner,
you’ve destroyed it everywhere in the world.
C. P. Cavafy, “The City” from C. P. Cavafy; Collected Poems.
Translated by Edmund Keely and Philip Sherrard.
Organized by: Sandro Barros, Reyila Hadeer, Darshana Devarajan, Kasun Gajasinghe
