Workshop to help faculty and staff take care of themselves in these difficult times

October 20, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

We are all living in a state of chronic uncertainty.  For many of us, we are left feeling out of control in a world where the future is unclear and unpredictable.  In response to so much chaos and loss,  most of us cycle through a series of complicated and seemingly contradictory emotional responses, from disconnection to frustration to guilt to anger to relief to sorrow to gratitude to worry.  And, sometimes, we may be having all of these feelings over the course of a few short moments.

This session, facilitated by Jon Novello from MSU’s Employee Assistance Program, will give faculty and staff the opportunity to slow down and catch your breath for an hour, to share what your experiences have been, to be heard and validated for the challenges you may be facing, and to listen and understand a bit about how your coworkers and colleagues are moving through this time as well.  The EAP will also provide evidence-based suggestions that might help you to navigate a world that is so uncertain and to take care of yourself in a real and meaningful way.
