Photovoice Analysis and Scholarly Presentation

December 11, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm EST

Photovoice is a participatory action research method used to explore important community questions through imagery and participants’ stories about the meaning behind their photos. Through cycles of photography, writing, reflection, and storytelling, participants articulate their own views, identify common themes, hold critical dialogues, and foster change in their communities and settings.

This workshop focuses on how to analyze photovoice images and writing. It is intended for participants who have experience with photovoice and/or have completed a photovoice project with their community partners. This is not a photovoice basics workshop.

Workshop participants will come away with ideas for analyzing data from photovoice projects and useful strategies for disseminating their scholarship to academic audiences.

Photovoice Consultation Hour
As a follow-up, on December 11, the presenters will hold a Photovoice Consultation Hour to provide participants individual feedback on their photovoice projects.
