EPET Program Handbook
The Program Handbook guides students through the process of completing their degree.
GradPlan
GradPlan helps doctoral students create and store their degree plans and subsequent graduate program activities. It is where students enter their guidance committee and enter any changes to their approved course plan.
Research Resources
CSTAT
The Center for Statistical Training and Consulting at MSU provides graduates with support in research and statistics.
MSU Writing Center
The Writing Center at MSU provides students with support regarding their writing.
Elizabeth Webster in the MSU Library
Elizabeth Webster is the education librarian at MSU. In addition to many services, she provides students with one-on-one research instruction.

Living and Working at MSU
Tax Help for MSU Students
MSU Tax Clinic provides free legal services to low-income taxpayers who are in controversy with the Internal Revenue Service and state of Michigan relating to tax matters. The Tax Clinic handles all aspects of controversy with the IRS, including representing taxpayers in cases before the United States Tax Court and the United States District Court. If you have a federal tax problem, the Tax Clinic can also assist with a state of Michigan or city tax matter.

The Graduate School provides information on both on-campus housing and off-campus housing. Please check their Housing and Living in MI page.
MSU Bus Service
CATA’s Spartan Bus Service operates seven days a week during fall and spring semesters on campus. They also provide year-round service from off-campus apartments in the East Lansing, Okemos, Haslett and Jolly/Dunckel Road areas to MSU.
Air Travel
Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport (LAN) services a small number of cities. Many travelers use Detroit Metropolitan Wayne Couty Airport (DTW). The Michigan Flyer Bus service provides transportation between the MSU campus and DTW.
Additional resources regarding living options, shopping, and entertainment are made available to students upon their admission to the program.
International Students
The Office for International Students and Scholars
The Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) has support services such as:
- Advising on and facilitating compliance with U.S. immigration regulations.
- Conducting orientations and other special programming that help international students and scholars integrate into and adjust to the academic, cultural, and social life of MSU.
- Serving as a liaison with U.S. government agencies, foreign embassies, sponsors, and educational foundations that support international students and scholars.
- Contributing to the internationalization of MSU by providing opportunities for growth through cross-cultural interactions.
The Office of International Studies in Education (OISE)
The Office of International Studies in Education (OISE) provides support to students with their international research and teaching endeavors.
Student Legal Services
Student Legal Services is dedicated to serving the legal needs of Michigan State University students. Sponsored by Student Government – the Associated Students of Michigan State University (ASMSU) and the Council of Graduate Students (COGS) – and funded by student tax dollars, Student Legal Services provides FREE professional legal assistance and representation to eligible students through a contract with the law firm of Jeffries and Associates, PLLC.
MSU Tax Return Tutorials for International Students
The Tax Clinic provides a number of services to nonresident aliens in the community and throughout the state of Michigan. We can assist you with understanding and complying with U.S. tax laws. This includes interpreting and claiming tax benefits under U.S. international tax treaties.
MSU Dialogues
MSU Dialogues is an intergroup dialogue program for students, faculty and staff at Michigan State. It is a face-to-face learning experience that brings together people from different identity groups over a sustained period of time to:
- Understand our commonalities and differences
- Examine the nature and impact of societal inequalities
- Explore ways of working together toward greater equity and justice
- Prepare individuals to live, work, and lead in a complex, diverse society

Graduate Student Well-being
The Graduate School provides many resources to help promote students’ well-being. These resources support many dimensions of life – occupational, physical, social/relational, intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and others.
Graduate Student Organizations
The Council of Graduate Students (COGS)
The Council of Graduate Students (COGS) is dedicated to advancing the well-being and professional interests of graduate and professional students at Michigan State University through advocacy, leadership, and unity.
Graduate Employees Union (GEU)
Graduate Employees Union (GEU) at Michigan State University is an activist, volunteer-run collective bargaining unit that fights for safe, equitable, and just working conditions for all graduate students.
Other Student Organizations
There are more than 900 registered student organizations at MSU, providing many opportunities for graduate students to join groups that are of interest to them. There are many with an international focus, like the International Students Association (ISA), as well as other student clubs and groups that may interest you.
