CED events this week

February 20, 2023

Dear College of Education Students,

As classes resume this week, after the tragic event that occurred last week, we are offering a few supportive resources for students, faculty and staff. Our hearts continue to be heavy but our focus is to continue to show love, compassion and caring to our college community.

  • Grab-and-go snacks for students will be provided in the lobbies of Erickson Hall and IM Sports Circle Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., offered by the Office of Development and Alumni Relations and Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Cello music performed by Assistant Professor Charis Lauren Wahman will be played from roughly 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. in the lobby of Erickson Hall on Monday, February 20.
  • A therapy dog will also be in Erickson Hall and IM Sports Circle on Monday. A Bernedoodle named LilyBear is tentatively going to be available for faculty, staff and students beginning ~11:00 a.m. We are expecting LilyBear and her caretaker to visit both Erickson Hall and IM Sports Circle. LilyBear’s caretaker is Ashleigh Lore, who is the 2022-2023 Michigan Region 6 Teacher of the Year. Region 6 includes MSU. Lore is an elementary teacher at Delta Center Elementary School, part of Grand Ledge Public Schools.
  • Academic and Student Affairs and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are offering Crisis Management Briefings for any member of our College of Education community. The hybrid, 45-minute sessions will include information from Community Mental Health on responses to trauma, what to look for to best support yourself and others.

More resources may continue to be added. Continue to watch your email for further updates, or visit this online resource for offerings across our college or the multitude of offerings campus.
