You may be wondering:

What is academic governance?

Academic governance is the system that faculty and students participate in as they develop policies regarding academic matters. ASMSU is the biggest advocacy group for undergraduate students on campus. Accordingly, we get the chance to nominate around 70 students to various MSU committees! Academic Governance is made up of the University Council, the Faculty Senate, University Standing Committees, and University Advisory-Consultative Committees, as well as other university committees and task forces.

What could you do?

By serving on one of these committees, you would provide a student voice on university-wide issues. You would work alongside other members of the MSU community by participating in meetings and deliberating and voting on relevant issues on behalf of the undergraduate student body. As a part of this role, you would also communicate regularly with ASMSU’s Academic Affairs department and adhere to the MSU Academic Governance Bylaws and the ASMSU Manual.
