Art Festival & Contest – Scholarships Available

October 31, 2023

The RBC is hosting the 3rd Annual Hills Climbed Art Festival & Contest! This year it is open to all MSU students with an emphasis on inviting 1st and 2nd year students as part of our First and Second Year Experience.

The contest is inspired by the “Hills We Climb” poem read by Amanda Gorman in January 2020 and is an opportunity for students to share a challenge or struggle they have overcome as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Scholarship awards are available, see the poster for details.

Artwork can take any form—from drawings, paintings, digital art, photographs, videos, songs, dance, poems, you name it! As long as it shares your story and is meaningful to you, it will work. Students will need to email Joe Moon (jcmoon@msu.edu) to be added to the D2L course for submission. Once added, look for a course titled “RBC Hills Climbed Art Contest & Festival”, or follow this link: https://d2l.msu.edu/d2l/home/1537069. Artwork should be paired with a 1-page (double-spaced) written explanation of your work.

Submissions are due in D2L by 11:59 pm on Friday, November 10th. Judging will occur before and during the event itself, our Hills Climbed Art Festival on Tuesday, November 14th from 6 pm-7:30 pm in the McDonel Kiva. Entrants will have an opportunity to share context about their submission at this event, and while attendance is not required to win, we encourage everyone to come and be celebrated.
