Brief synopsis of the program:
Experience the beauty and culture of Ghana while gaining hands on experience in child/human development. Explore contemporary social issues, problems, controversies, and potential solutions to support children and families in this African context. Ghana is known for its rich history, lush forests, diverse wildlife, and miles of beaches as well as its friendly and resourceful people. This program provides students with a hands-on, community-driven experience in child development and social issues in Ghana through a collaboration with the Center for Learning and Childhood Development-Ghana, a research-based, non-profit organization https://www.clcdghana.org/ designed to support the development of children across Ghana. Students are provided with cultural, social, and historical immersion, engagement with Ghanaian families, and service learning at various community-based, early education, and rehabilitation centers that support all children including those with disabilities. Join the program to experience a multi-disciplinary approach to improving the well-being of children and their families. Students from majors such as human development and family studies, child development, special education, human biology (and other related sciences), psychology, neuroscience, nursing, kinesiology, education, anthropology, communicative sciences and disorders, social work, public policy, global health, public health, program evaluation, rehabilitation, pre-med, and pre-dental will find this experience relevant to their fields.
