Big Ten Early Learning Alliance Panel – The State of ECE Data in Big Ten States
October 23, 2024 @ 12:00 pm EDT
The Big Ten Early Learning Alliance is hosting its first-ever panel on The State of ECE Data in Big Ten States. The panel will discuss types of early childhood data already available in Big Ten states; barriers to using state-specific early childhood data; benefits of having state-specific early childhood data accessible to researchers, policymakers; and the public and an example of success via the state of Georgia’s Department of Early Care and Learning.

The Alliance brings together early childhood experts from the Big Ten’s 14 universities in 11 states (with plans to expand to the Big Ten’s newest West Coast members) to collaborate on scientific activities that expand understanding of early childhood development. Together, the member states are home to nearly six million children under the age of 5, or 26% of the country’s 0-5 population. Uniting across the Big Ten conference allows Alliance members to share expertise across states and use their collective voice to communicate early childhood research findings and their implications for practices and policies to broader audiences.
These early learning experts just published an inaugural brief analyzing the state of early childhood education for the nearly six million young children who live in conference states. Read their analysis and opportunities to improve early education in the Big Ten states.
