Critically Imagining the Future of Education
May 9, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm EDT
The forum brings together Miho Taguma, who is leading work of OECD’s Education and Skills 2030 project; our MSU colleagues Bill Schmidt and Raphaela Schlicht-Schmalzle, each contributing to developing the new OECD framework; Corey Drake and Riyad Shahjahan, reflecting on the challenges and implications of imagining education in the future for teacher education and for higher education; and Yvonne Camaal Canul, Lansing School District Superintendent, considering these issues from a local PK-12 vantage point.
The forum should encourage a lively and stimulating dialogue among presenters and audience. Too often we get lost in the weeds of the present moment or the narrow sector of education in which we work. I encourage you to join the symposium as an opportunity to think about fundamental questions as educators—what should students learn, and what does that mean for our schools and higher education institutions?
The conference is free and includes lunch, but to help with our planning, we ask that you register at the following link:https://msu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3wnvrR84X7BAjTn
