Department of Kinesiology – Athletic Training Candidate Presentation

Abby Bretzin presentation

Abigail Bretzin is a candidate for the tenure track assistant/associate professor position in the Department of Kinesiology. Bretzin is a Research Investigator at the University of Michigan, and member in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Michigan Injury Prevention Center. Bretzin will present on Thursday, January 16, at 3:30 pm in IM Circle 118.

 

Presenter:

Abigail Bretzin is a Research Investigator at the University of Michigan, and member in the Department of Emergency Medicine and Michigan Injury Prevention Center. Before joining the Michigan Injury Prevention Center, Bretzin completed her postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, gaining advanced training in epidemiology. During her postdoctoral studies, she also completed NIH funded training programs in sleep and traumatic brain injury. Bretzin earned her PhD in Kinesiology at Michigan State University.

Bretzin’s research includes primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of traumatic brain injury (TBI), specifically sport-related concussion. Bretzin will describe her previous research on the epidemiology of sport-related concussions across various patient settings. She will highlight the intersection of sex and gender in concussion incidence, outcomes, and access to sports medicine personnel throughout concussion recovery.
