Features of Teacher Preparation That Promote Teaching Quality and Retention: Building Quantitative Evidence through a Research Practice Partnership
Matthew Ronfeldt’s research on improving teaching quality sits at the intersection of educational practice and policy. He uses mixed methods to study teacher preparation, professional development, recruitment, retention, and evaluation.
In this talk, Ronfeldt will describe the progression of his research studies designed to better understand which features of preservice teacher preparation promote the instructional quality and retention of early-career P-12 teachers. He will detail how the research practice partnership he established with the Tennessee Department of Education develops and implements experiments to test the efficacy of various teacher preparation features and their policy implications.
Speaker:
Matthew Ronfeldt, Professor, Marsal Family School of Education University of Michigan
