June 23, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT

Learn what it takes to move beyond “ally” and into action

Presented by Dr. Alyssa Hadley Dunn, an associate professor of teacher education. She researches urban education and sociocultural and political contexts of urban schools, with a focus on issues of race, justice and equity. She is currently working on her third book, based on interviews with teachers around the country, about how educators make pedagogical decisions on “days after” major events, tragedies or instances of injustice. As a public scholar, Dr. Dunn’s work has been featured in The Huffington Post, CNN and National Public Radio, as well as education blogs and podcasts. She had been awarded MSU’s Diversity and Community Engagement Award and is senior associate editor of the journal Multicultural Perspectives. She is also the mother of two young children.
