New MSU Faculty & Academic Staff Orientation

Faculty and academic staff who are new to Michigan State University as of fall 2018 are invited for New Faculty and Academic Staff Orientation.

This orientation is required for all new full-time academics on the East Lansing campus that are contracted for 90% time or greater for two or more semesters including tenure system faculty, fixed-term faculty, librarians, health programs faculty, academic specialists in the continuing system, and fixed-term academic specialists. Others who are in these roles at reduced appointment levels are invited, but not required, to attend. Postdocs and research associates will be invited to a separate orientation through the Graduate School.

We will welcome you to campus, give you a sense of context and history, introduce you to campus contacts and policies, and share important initiatives.

SCHEDULE

7:30 a.m. — Continental breakfast and registration

8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. —  Orientation program

12:00 – 12:30 p.m. — Break (take this time to sign up for complimentary football tickets, get a professional photo taken or meet with MSU Human Resources-Benefits or MSUFCU representatives)

12:30 – 2:00 p.m. — Luncheon with the President, Provost, Administrators and fellow incoming academics

2:00 – 4:00 p.m. — Information Fair: Representatives from over 60 campus academic units, associations and organizations will be available to answer your questions
