February 24, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 3:30 pm EST
SAVE THE DATE!
The College of Education’s Equity Outreach Initiatives invites Michigan teachers and administrators to participate in our inaugural Pursuing Educational Justice Summit. This event will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 8:00AM-3:30PM. Participants are eligible to earn 5.o SCHEHS SCECHs.
Gathering with teachers and school leaders from around the state, the Summit will provide professional education workshops for cultivating and sustaining equitable school communities by centering issues of race, culture, power and privilege. Grounded in our desire to increase individuals’ and organizations’ capacity to implement equitable policies as well as classroom and organizational practices, our goal for the Summit is to engage school leaders and practitioners in workshops about how to meet the academic and social needs of a diverse PreK-12 population.
Faculty and graduate students from the MSU College of Education, committed to issues of educational equity and justice, will facilitate 80-minute interactive workshop sessions centering research-based instructional strategies at the day-long event. Breakout sessions will be tailored for elementary educators, secondary educators, and administrators. Additionally, MSU faculty and graduate students will join school teams in the afternoon as they develop an action plan before the close of the day.
Registration is required for this event. Please note that payment is due at the time of registration.
We look forward to having you join us as we pursue educational justice!
