Racial Equity 2030: Idea Exchange Meeting

November 16, 2020 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm EST

Answer the call to reimagine and build a future where racial equity is realized.

Racial equity is the primary challenge of our time. The future of too many children is bound by the color of their skin, their families’ circumstances or the limits of opportunity because of systemic inequities in their communities. The current global pandemic has laid bare inequities in health, wealth and opportunity. The uprising for racial justice has produced a global outcry. But the systems that perpetuate inequity and injustice have been generations in the making. Racial Equity 2030 is a chance to reimagine and build a future where equity is realized.

Launched on October 13, 2020, Racial Equity 2030 will award $90 million to fund bold solutions to drive an equitable future for children, families, and communities across the globe. Hosted by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the challenge will invite, build and scale ideas for transformative change in the social, economic, political and institutional systems that uphold inequities.

We invite all College colleagues interested in this exciting opportunity to participate in an informational and idea exchange meeting. REGISTER NOW.

We realize this is a very demanding time for everyone. However, the Racial Equity 2030 opportunity is an exciting avenue directly relevant to the values, commitments, passions, and expertise of many people in our college. Successful proposals will require teams and partnerships of creative colleagues who want to join together to address some of the most important issues of our time.

This opportunity is open to teams across the world. Anyone can enter, but MSU is hosting a competition to identify the most promising MSU ideas. Those selected in the internal MSU competition will receive support for preparing the submission, due in late February, to the Kellogg Foundation. Those interested in participating in the MSU internal competition are invited to submit white papers of up to 3 pages, due by December 4, 2020.

If you are interested in learning more about the Racial Equity 2030 opportunity, and discussing possible ideas with others in the College, please attend this Idea Exchange Meeting. We will answer questions about the application process. Most of the meeting will be organized to enable conversation among those with similar interests to consider potential ideas that might lead to a proposal. There is no limit to the number of applications that can be submitted from MSU, so the meeting will be designed to foster exchange of ideas and to encourage anyone wishing to prepare a short internal white paper.

Register to attend by 4:00p on Friday, Nov. 13: https://msu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_d1jV65HFQs8HBC5
