Spring 2022 Doctoral Convocation
May 6, 2022
The College of Education is hosting an in-person Doctoral Convocation (Hooding Ceremony) on Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Erickson Hall Kiva. There will be two ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. The ceremony, in addition to university Commencement activities, serves as a special recognition for those obtaining their doctoral degree(s) from the College of Education. University Commencement for graduates from doctoral programs begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Breslin Student Events Center.
To accommodate all of our graduates and their families, there will be two ceremonies:
- 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. — Graduates from the Departments of Teacher Education and Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education, and the Program in Mathematics Education (PRIME)
- 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. — Graduates from the Departments of Educational Administration and Kinesiology
We ask that graduates involved with the 11:30 a.m. ceremony arrive to the Erickson Hall staging area near 133D/E by 11:10 a.m. Graduates involved with the 1:15 p.m. ceremony are asked to arrive to the Erickson Hall staging area near 133D/E by 12:55 p.m.
Graduates are welcome to invite up to eight guests to the Erickson Kiva ceremony, including children. Doors will open for each event 20 minutes prior to the start time. Parking information can be found at: Visitor Parking – MSU Police and Public Safety. Lot 38 will be open to public parking beginning at 10:00 a.m. In accordance with current MSU COVID-19 protocol, masks will not be required at this event.
We are providing graduates the option to dress in attire that reflects their cultural backgrounds or philosophical beliefs, in lieu of or in addition to academic regalia. If you plan to wear something other than an academic gown, please email Carrie Oney (cretenca@msu.edu). Note that the Commencement Ceremony in the Breslin Center does require candidates to wear a traditional cap and gown.
