Strengthening Schools, Equipping Individuals

April 21, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

More than half of all American teens report struggling with mental health issues due to the impact of COVID-19. To support school leaders in addressing this crisis and the challenges we face in secondary schools, MASSP in partnership with The JED Foundation is hosting a FREE, webinar series (six, one-hour sessions) for secondary administrators and members of their student intervention teams to assist them in evaluating and strengthening programming and systems related to suicide prevention, mental health, and substance misuse prevention.

During this series, participants will explore a framework developed in partnership with the College Mental Health Program at Harvard’s McClean Hospital. The Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention in High Schools is a first-of-its-kind, strengths-based solution to address this crisis. This framework offers schools a blueprint for developing a systemic approach to supporting student mental health, identifying students who may be struggling, and connecting them with mental health care. The Comprehensive Approach helps schools create a community of caring so that everyone in the school community is able to contribute to the emotional health and wellbeing of students.
