“The Hate U Give” Event Series

The English Education program at MSU shares a seres of events surrounding “The Hate U Give,” a novel by Angie Thomas:

November 5, 2018 — “THUG” Dialogue & Live Twitter Chat

252 Erickson Hall, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Students in the English Department will host a discussion about the film adaptation of “The Hate U Give,” and the relationship between the book and our current racial realities. Open to the public.

December 5, 2018 — “THUG” Collaborative

MSU English Education students and faculty will come together with an English Language Arts class from Detroit Denby High School to support the implementation and facilitation of “THUG,” and provide MSU English Education students with authentic experiences teaching and learning alongside linguistically and racially diverse students.

January 12, 2019 — “THUG” Teach-In

Erickson Hall Kiva, 9:30 – 2:30 p.m.

The teach-in is a professional development event for educators interested in receiving support and teaching resources for the book “The Hate U Give.” Open to the public.
