Urban Education Speaker Series: Marcelle Haddix

February 23, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

Are You Ready for Black Future Month? On Teacher Education, the Black Imagination, and Possible Futures

REGISTER HERE

In this talk, Professor Marcelle Haddix will guide us in time travel to explore Black-centered remembrances in teaching and teacher education from the past, present and future. What possibilities are we willing to see and cultivate for a better education and a better world? What will it take for us to honor and listen to Black voices on educational freedom and liberation? What have we learned by bearing witness to our individual and collective past in this current moment about the possibilities for change? Are we ready to embrace a Black future?

Inspired by Black futurists, writers, artists and architects, this talk will present three testimonies, celebrating Black imagination and memory, to explore these questions and more and continue to a geography for possible futures in teaching and teacher education.
