Why Arts Education, At All?

September 12, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

We would like to invite you to reflect on arts education, its purposes, and its impact on the lives of students, teachers, and alumni! In this interactive event, you will find various arts education poetic inquiries by the installation artists, the arts education research and instructional team of the Department of Teacher Education here at MSU (Darshana Devarajan, Reyila Hadeer, Brittany Brewer, and Dr. Karenanna Boyle Creps). The space is designed to inspire reflection on arts education and social justice, learning, communication, and beauty. Participants are encouraged to respond to the poems and posted questions through each art form station, exploring ideas through their own blackout poetry, magnetic poetry, play-doh, painting, drawing, and more…

Come join to explore and dialogue through artmaking as we all reflect on why arts education exists and how it is (or should be) valued!
