Development of project-based learning units for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)
The current progress of several projects in CREATE for STEM, designed for developing and enacting PBL units for middle and high school students. He will focus on the international perspectives of working with teams of researchers and teachers from around the world and discuss some of the challenges and opportunities that arise from the collaborative work.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Tom Bielik, a post-doc at the CREATE for STEM Institute, graduated from the Department of Science Teaching at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. His dissertation, under the supervision of Professor Anat Yerden, focused on the development of high school biotechnology students’ inquiry practices. He is also a former middle school science teacher and director of the Young Active Science program at the Davidson Institute for Science Education in Israel.
