Open Position: Associate Director, University Information

The George Mason University, University Information unit within University Relations is seeking an ambitious, self-directed, innovative and outgoing leader who is passionate about staff development, campus information and visitor services for the new position of Associate Director. The screening and selection process will begin September 9, 2011, with an anticipated start date in mid-October.

Responsibilities:
The professional in this position is responsible for campus-wide information services, visitor services, training, program and project management, supervision and leadership. This new position will grow our quality, campus-wide, information and visitor program efforts and initiatives, supervise three to four full-time classified staff who provide day-to-day oversight of the Event Information–a portion of the Fairfax Information and Prince William Information areas, as well as organized initiatives of University Information.

The Associate Director serves as the primary trainer and curriculum specialist to develop training plans, frameworks and programs to help the full-time staff and student information assistants remain updated about new industry practices in information and visitor services.

The Associate Director will serve as lead coordinator and trainer for Mason 101 and a new campus tour program with volunteer docents; and serve as primary guide for VIPs, community leaders and potential or existing donors, as requested. The ideal candidate will partner and collaborate with the department Director to build and maintain a strong, cohesive, team-centered environment; and be dedicated to continuous staff growth and development while maintaining the highest level of customer service. This position will coordinate the campus maps for regional campuses, campus-wide information about signage, moves/construction and digital signage initiatives.
