The Department of Teacher Education in the College of Education at Michigan State University has been honored by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation – Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowship as an institution designated to receive aspiring teachers of color. The College of Education was among 159 university applicants of which 29 were chosen around the country to be eligible to receive WW-RBF Fellows beginning in the 2011-2012 academic year. Receiving this designation is a high honor and a mark of national recognition indicating the quality of our teacher preparation program.
Beginning in the 2011-2012 academic year, 25 WW-RBF Fellows will be selected annually. They will use their fellowships to enroll in a master’s degree program that leads to teacher licensure, in their field of interest, at one of the 29 campuses, MSU being one. In return, Fellows make a commitment to teach for three years in a high-need urban or rural school.
