April 8, 2011

Child development graduate Kathryn Kosko, who is completing her fifth-year internship in Detroit through the College of Education, has been selected as the 2010-11 Michigan Student Teacher/Intern of the Year. She will receive the award during a dinner and ceremony on April 8, 2011.

The competition is coordinated by the Michigan Association of Teacher Educators. It is designed to encourage individuals preparing to become teachers to demonstrate exemplary teaching skills.

Kosko has been teaching kindergarten at Samuel L. Gompers Elementary School, a high-performing, low-income elementary in Detroit Public Schools. Her mentor teacher is Linda Mangiapane and her field instructor is Professor Susan Florio-Ruane.

Congratulations, Katie!
