The MSU Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) chapter has recently returned from their national convocation event in Indianapolis — with four new awards in hand.
- Kathryn Kosko, Intern Teacher of the Year Award: The sole recipient of this award is selected among hundreds of student teachers across the nation who record, analyze and submit a 30-minute lesson plan.
- Megan Salada, President’s Scholarship: Given to only five undergraduate students per year, the award recognizes these students’ outstanding work in the field of education.
- MSU KDP chapter, Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Award: This award honors chapters that have demonstrated two years of excellent activities based on six different categories: programming, membership and retention; recognition; service ideals; practices, inquiry, reflection-science and fidelity to human ideals; professional development; and leadership development. Only 24 of KDP’s 645 chapters received this award.
- Kristy Dumont, Regional Counselor Award for the Midwest Region: Among all of the KDP staff advisers in 10 Midwestern states, only one is selected for this award, which recognizes excellence in chapter leadership.
KDP is a highly regarded honor society for educators around the world. Members are invited into the society based on high academic achievement at the college level, a commitment to being an educator in the future and a healthy attitude which ensures success in the education of students. Along with attending chapter meetings, KDP members perform service projects financed through their own fund-raising that contribute to the organization, to the profession and to society.
