Two faculty members in the College of Education at Michigan State University have been honored for excellence in education research this year by the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
Both will be recognized during an awards ceremony April 5 at the AERA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia.
Mark Reckase
University Distinguished Professor Mark Reckase is receiving the E. F. Lindquist Award for lifetime achievement in the field of educational testing and measurement. The award is presented jointly by AERA and the ACT.
Reckase is a national leader in developing psychometric theory and educational assessments. He also teaches in the Measurement and Quantitative Methods doctoral program at MSU.
Dorinda Carter Andrews
Dorinda Carter Andrews, associate professor of teacher education, is receiving the AERA Scholars of Color Early Career Contribution Award. The honor is presented to a scholar who, within the first decade of his or her academic career, has made significant contributions to the understanding of issues that disproportionately affect minority populations.
Carter Andrews conducts innovative research on closing achievement gaps in schools and improving the preparation of urban teachers.
MSU’s Barbara Schneider, John A. Hannah Chair and University Distinguished Professor, is currently president of AERA and will preside over the awards ceremony. The Awards Luncheon will be held from 12:25 to 2:25 p.m. Saturday April 5 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Terrace Level.
