Michigan State University scholar Barbara Schneider is featured as one of 31 “Ed-Talk” videos released this month by the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
The videos are designed to convey key research findings on important education issues. Schneider discusses strategies to decrease the number of low-income and minority high school students who enroll in colleges and universities below their aspirations and abilitiesāor skip college altogether.
Specifically, she shares findings from her research project, the College Ambition Program, or CAP, which has established a successful school-based model forĀ increasing college-going among traditionally disadvantaged high school students.
Schneider is the John. A. Hannah Chair and a University Distinguished Professor, with appointments in the College of Education and Department of Sociology at MSU. She gave the Ed-Talk live at the 2016 Annual Meeting of AERA in Washington, D.C.
