Professor Emily Bouck was named the MSU College of Education’s associate dean for research. She previously held the role in an interim capacity since 2021.
While serving as interim, she introduced a new mentoring program, which partners mid- or senior-level faculty with an early-career faculty member who is new to writing grants. She is also active in promoting events for college faculty to learn about research development and pre- and post-award support, among other themes.
“Dr. Bouck has proven to be a forward-thinking leader who has been working to improve research supports and the success of research in the College of Education,” said Jeannie Patrick, the director of the Office of Research Administration. “The Office of Research Administration looks forward to working with Dr. Bouck as she implements programs focused on all aspects of the grant process, works to clarify policies and procedures and identifies ways to better support researchers in the college.”
As part of her commitment to the college, Bouck is working with Associate Dean Matthew Koehler to improve how faculty and staff are recognized for their work. She is leading the creation of internal college awards and is supporting efforts to increase nominations of faculty and staff for university, national and international awards.
Bouck joined the college in 2014. She is a nationally recognized scholar in special education and serves as the director of special education programs at MSU.
