Kristen Bieda is a professor of mathematics education and serves as the Associate Director of Mathematics for the CREATE for STEM Institute. She is also the interim chairperson of the Department of Teacher Education.
Her research focuses on classroom practices related to reasoning and proof in middle grades and secondary mathematics, with the goal of informing teacher education, curriculum, and professional development programs. She also has active research programs investigating new models for secondary mathematics clinical experiences, and digital mathematics curriculum for the secondary level that enhances student collaboration and teacher practice through the integration of learning analytics.
Bieda is a former secondary and undergraduate mathematics teacher. She is currently the President of the Michigan Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators.
