Effat Id-Deen is the Southeast Michigan Elementary and Secondary Internship Coordinator in the department's Teacher Preparation Program. As Coordinator, Id-Deen works with over 10 school districts and close to 100 interns, initiating and maintaining school, district, and community partnerships in the Southeast Michigan area. She identifies school districts for intern year placements in high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools, while maintaining relationships with central administration, building administrators, and mentor teachers.
Id-Deen also serves as an Assistant Professor in the department teaching courses at the pre-internship and internship levels. Her teaching, research, and scholarship focus broadly or race, culture, and equity in education and the racialized and gendered schooling experiences of Black students in P-12 settings.
