Nicholas Mortensen is an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, focusing on teaching strength and conditioning courses for the Sport Coaching, Leadership and Administration (SCLA) graduate programs. His research broadly focuses on improving human performance in various exercise and sports modes, and how to modify programming appropriately to accommodate the needs of athletes, general and specific populations. Applying essential nutrition strategies to enhance athletic capabilities and recovery also plays a valuable role in his teaching and research. Specifically, his research focuses on improving various strength and conditioning attributes for underfunded teams with minimal or no equipment to assist with their goals and create equal competitive opportunities.
