Christina Schwarz is a professor of teacher education. Her research centers on teaching and learning science. She focuses on promoting equitable, inquiry-oriented, constructivist learning environments from preschool through college. Her research involves working with students and teachers to develop an understanding of and engagement in scientific practices such as scientific modeling. She also studies beginning teachers' noticing and responding to find practices that open up spaces for equitable scientific sense-making. Other interests include technology and computation, science curriculum development, science teaching and learning in urban schools, and social/cultural practices in the classroom.
