The College of Education Data and Analytics team assists college leadership, faculty and staff with student data collection and analysis for accreditation and in pursuit of inclusive excellence. The team is currently working to improve access to data, data accuracy and efficiency of use through a collaborative effort with the College’s Office of Research Administration (ORA).
Data Analytics and the ways we help you
The College of Education Data and Analytics team is committed to student data optimization and accuracy for the benefit of student communication, student recruitment, student retention, program experience and learning outcomes. We seek to leverage data in order to narrow disparities such as unequal representation, variations in educational opportunities driven by socio-economic and demographic factors and achievement gaps. Our goal is to improve the program experience for all students, empower and give voice to potential, current and future College of Education students.
Every semester, the Data and Analytics Teams pulls student data as it pertains to enrollment and admission of the College of Education students after the last day of drop/add classes. This will help ensure a consistent population for reporting throughout the academic year. If you would like a particular data point, please contact us at ced.data@msu.edu and if possible, we will add it to the datasets below.
The groups being pulled are:
- CED Undergraduate Enrollment
- CED Graduate Enrollment
- CED Teacher Preparation students with a PEND code on their 1900 and 1903 TE codes. This population will include all juniors, senior and Interns.
- CED students with pending codes in the UECP and GECP cohort.
Our team is mapping student data sources across the College of Education and Michigan State University. This inventory assists in our aim to preserve the accuracy and integrity of student data used to inform research and policy decisions.
As part of our mission to optimize student data collection and use for data-informed policy and decision making within the college, we are asking College of Education stakeholders to complete a needs assessment. The needs assessment tracks and monitors student data challenges, including, but not limited to: missing data points needed to make informed decisions, data inaccuracies and data analysis limitations.
