Teaching Position: TE 802, 804 Reflection and Inquiry in Teaching I & II (secondary)

Semesters Offered: Fall/Spring 

Duties: Teach a section of this seminar to secondary interns in fall and/or spring semester, focusing on the teaching of a secondary subject matter. Topics include analysis of standards and curriculum guidelines, curriculum analysis and appraisal, unit and lesson planning, assessment of student work and understanding.  Attend course instructor staff meetings and collaborate with field instructors.

Desired Qualifications:

One or more of the following:

  1. Secondary teaching experience
  2. Background in a secondary subject matter area
  3. Experience with pre-service teacher education
  4. Interest in/experience with school–university collaboration

Mentoring, Monitoring and Evaluation: Graduate student instructors are required to attend initial orientation prior to the start of fall semester.  Graduate assistants selected to teach this course will work under the guidance of the Course Coordinator.  Graduate assistants are required to attend regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year for professional development.  Graduate student instructors are observed and evaluated at least once each semester with a debriefing session following each observation.  Copies of written evaluation and SIRS are kept in the graduate student instructor’s file.
