Certification

Students finishing their fifth-year internship as part of the MSU teacher preparation program must complete a few more steps to become certified.

Individuals who have bachelor’s degrees and want to pursue teacher certification choose from several program options at MSU, depending on their previous education and goals.

Every year, the MSU Certification Office helps hundreds of certified teachers maintain their certification or add endorsements that enable them to teach additional student populations, grade levels and/or subject areas. Educators may also become certified as school administrators.

Individuals who meet requirements and earn an advanced degree in School Psychology at MSU can apply to become certified as a School Psychologist.

Michigan State University offers a unique teacher education program that prepares native speakers of Chinese to teach Chinese language and culture in American schools.

MSU offers a post-baccalaureate fellowship program leading to teacher certification for individuals who have backgrounds in mathematics and science and are serious about teaching in high-need schools.
