Old Town Poetry Series: Laura Apol

Join the Old Town Poetry Series in welcoming new Lansing Poet Laureate Laura Apol.

Apol will be joined by musician Brandon McCoy on flute. After refreshments, an open mic will follow. Those wishing to read a poem in the open mic are invited to throw their names in the basket by the door.

About Laura Apol

Laura Apol, recently selected to serve as Lansing Poet Laureate, teaches literature, creative writing, literacy and women’s studies within Michigan State University’s College of Education. She is the author of several collections of poetry: Falling into Grace; Crossing the Ladder of Sun; Requiem, Rwanda; Celestial Bodies; and With a Gift for Burning. Her latest book, Nothing But the Blood, has recently won the Oklahoma Book Prize for Poetry and a silver medal in poetry from the Independent Book Publishers Book Award.

Additional Information

Parking is free—on the street or in the large surface lot on the south side of the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Turner Street.
