Admission to Non-Traditional Post Bachelor’s Teacher Certification Programs (“Short Form”)

Online Application

If you have been (or will be) admitted to a master’s degree program that will also lead to initial teacher certification, you must complete the Non-Traditional Post-BAC online application for purposes related to teacher certification.

An active email address is required to log on to the application site. After logging on, a unique password for the application will be sent to your email address. The password is necessary to re-enter your application, so please treat it carefully.

Select a Major:

Please choose your teaching major from the drop down menu. Because you are in a non-traditional certification program, a teaching minor is not required. If you intend to pursue extra teaching majors and/or minors, you will have an opportunity to indicate that on the Reply Form that will be sent to you after we receive your online application.

Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Professional Readiness Exam (formerly Basic Skills Test)

MSU must receive official notification that all three parts of the MTTC Professional Readiness Exam or Basic Skills test have been passed (Reading, Writing, Mathematics). The paper-based version is administered four times each year: January, April, July and October. The (more expensive) computer-based version is offered for one week during each of the remaining months. Taking the MTTC Professional Readiness Exam requires separate registration and fee payment. Register at http://www.mttc.nesinc.com/.
