Over the last few years, MAET has been involved in rigorous and systematic curriculum revision work to increase the inclusivity and accessibility of our courses. In 2020, we were honored to have these efforts recognized by Michigan State University’s AT&T Faculty and Staff Instructional Technology Awards.
CEP 833: Creativity in K-12 Computing Education was recognized as the best fully online course at Michigan State University. Designed in Spring 2019, for our Graduate Certificate in K-12 Computer Science Education, CEP 833 focuses on the intersections between creativity and computing in cross-disciplinary K-12 contexts and subject areas. Learners in the course use the Creative Learning Spiral developed by Mitchel Resnick of MIT to build a greater understanding of these intersections in their educational context.
CEP 810: Teaching for Understanding with Technology received an honorable mention for best fully online course. CEP 810 is part of our Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology. In CEP 810, learners explore numerous learning theories and how those relate to educational technology and the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) Framework (Mishra & Koehler, 2006) as a way of considering how technology intersects with contextual features, content, and pedagogy to create robust learning environments. Learners explore technologies and content while strengthening their own professional learning networks.
