Former assistant vice president for student services and adjunct faculty member Patricia Enos has been selected to receive the Esther Lloyd Jones Professional Service award, given by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA).
Enos will receive the award during ACPA’s annual conference in Las Vegas, March 4-7.
“It’s a humbling honor to be included in the same breath as Esther Lloyd Jones,” said Enos. “Others who have won the award are icons of the profession. And to also be in the same breath … I’m very honored, it’s amazing.”
Named after student affairs professional pioneer Esther Lloyd Jones, the award recognizes those who exemplify commitment to and advancement of the profession through service and leadership.
Matthew Wawrzynski, associate professor of Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education (HALE), sits on the awards committee and will introduce Enos at the awards ceremony.
“Her dedication and commitment to the student affairs profession — specifically, to our students — is astounding. She does what she does out of a true commitment,” Wawrzynski said of Enos. “She has challenged and supported, and built a family out of our students and alumni.”
Enos arrived at MSU in 1985 within the Division of Student Affairs, and served within the college as adjunct assistant professor beginning in 1987. In addition, she served as Michigan State University’s assistant vice president of student affairs and services, beginning in 1992 through her retirement in 2012.
The Pat Enos Award was established in 2004 through the College of Education. The award recognizes outstanding dedication and commitment in mentoring student affairs master’s students.
