Open Position: Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership

Georgia Southern University, a member institution of the University System of Georgia, invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership in the Department of Leadership, Technology and Human Development in the College of Education.

Within this setting, the College of Education (http://coe.georgiasouthern.edu/) offers undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare students for work in public education, community agencies, and higher education. The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development (http://coe.georgiasouthern.edu/lthd/), one of three departments within the College of Education includes twenty-six faculty in four distinct programs-Educational Leadership, Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Instructional Technology. The program in Educational Leadership which includes higher education administration offers graduate degrees at the master’s, educational specialist, and doctoral levels.

Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the assistant professor’s responsibilities include teaching courses in Educational Leadership/Administration, advising students, conducting and publishing scholarly research, and providing service to the University, community, and profession. The position requires a terminal degree and is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment with possible summer employment opportunities, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a related area by August 1, 2012, Ability to teach graduate courses online, on-campus, and off-campus, Ability to advise graduate students, conduct scholarly research, publish, and perform service to the University and profession, Ability to work with diverse student populations, Ability to use and model technology, Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and candidates.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous significant experience as an administrator in P-12 education, Previous experience as a faculty member in higher education, Previous membership on doctoral dissertation committees, Experience teaching online, Established research agenda and publication history, Contribution to grant submissions and administration of grants, Evidence of course work and/or scholarly work employing quantitative research methods
