OVERVIEW
The Associate Director will reports to the Director of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, Center for Campus Life in the Division of Student Affairs and serve on the Senior Leadership Team.  The position will manage all internal business operations; all internal/external budgetary, fiscal management requirements; all human resources, personnel, training; and research and assessment of the Department.  Current yearly budget is in excess of 15 million dollars

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Director will supervise all department fiscal activities, to include accounting, budgeting, payroll, procurement, and accounts payable/receivable.  Work with Director to develop multi-year budgets, to include revenue and expense projections. Serve as Department’s liaison to other campus business agencies, including: Budget Office, Comptroller/Payroll, Human Resources, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and the Foundation. Prepare all documents to be submitted to the Comptroller, Finance Committee, Committee to Review Student Fees, and Board of Regents related to budgetary tracking and fee requests/increases. Manage all Departmental business contracts and assure compliance with all University and State contracting policies.

The Associate Director will monitor all departmental transactions, and track income/expenses. The position will also establish departmental policies and procedures to assure compliance with all University and State fiscal policies, procedures and audit requirements, in addition, establish internal procurement policies and procedures and assure compliance with all required procurement policies.

The position will manage personnel and human resource functions to maintain an effective and dedicated multicultural workforce.  This includes coordination of staff recruitment, selection, orientation, training/development, and supervision.  The Associate Director will work with University Human Resources, staff of the Stamp, and our employees to coordinate the implementation of an effective performance review process. The position will design and implement learning outcomes to ensure student employment is an integral part of the student education. Oversee the Department’s reward and recognition program.

The Associate Director will supervise department’s marketing functions and staff; assist in overseeing research/assessment/evaluation efforts; manage travel procedures; serve as EEO officer for the department; and serve as Departmental contact point for any media related requests.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, in business administration, public administration, higher education, human resource management or related field.  Minimum of 8 years experience in general business and human resources administration of multi-million dollar organization. Strong IT skills, knowledge, and ability to use spreadsheets/financial software. Minimum of 2 years directly supervising staff, to include a performance review process. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and decision making skills, high personal performance standards, creativity, personal integrity, and good judgment.  Excellent presentation skills with the ability to develop and present staff development workshops. Preferable knowledge of the business and budgeting practices of the University of Maryland, State of Maryland Payroll/Personnel practices, IRS UBIT, and Workman’s Comp.

REMUNERATION
Full-time Salary commensurate with experience with benefits includes tuition remission, health insurance, and leave.
