Associate or Full Professor and Department Chair, Department of Education Leadership

Position: The Graduate School of Education at California Lutheran University Education invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at the level of associate or full professor. We seek a departmental leader who is recognized nationally for his/her research and teaching excellence in Educational Leadership. The Department of Education Leadership offers both a K-12 and Higher Education Doctor of Education degree and a Master of Arts degree in Education Leadership.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
Starting Date: June or July, 2012

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in Education, Contemporary knowledge and experience in the field of education, Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, Demonstrated commitment to faculty, staff and student development, Experience teaching in graduate programs and leading dissertation projects, Commitment to shared governance and collaboration, Ability to actively engage students in learning, Strong record of scholarship that includes peer-reviewed presentations and publications, Demonstrated commitment to issues of inclusion/diversity in education, Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications: Significant leadership experience in both P-12 education and higher education or in a state education agency or non-profit organization dedicated to education, Knowledge of and experience in international education, Expertise in quantitative research methodology, Experience in the effective use of technology in educational practice, Successful involvement with university-public school partnerships, Knowledge of and experience with local, state and national educational issues and trends across the P-20 pipeline (preschool – higher education)

Responsibilities: Carry a 12-unit course load per semester based upon teaching, leadership and dissertation assignments, Serve as Chair of the Education Leadership Department, Maintain an active record of scholarship, Serve as a member of the Dean’s cabinet, Engage in scholarly activities leading to grants, presentations and/or publications, Participate in service to the Department, School, University and P-20 education community.
