Department Head: Leadership, Policy, and Adult and Higher Education
The Department of Leadership, Policy, and Adult and Higher Education at NC State University seeks an innovative department head with a strong vision for leadership of a department focused on K-12 educational leadership, policy, higher education, adult education and human resource education for the 21st century. The department head will work with faculty in linking research, engagement and extension, and graduate study in the department and facilitate connections with the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, a state of the art research and outreach arm of the College. The successful candidate will actively demonstrate a commitment to collegial leadership, faculty governance, diversity, and social justice. A distinguished record of scholarship sufficient for appointment as a full professor in the department is required and a successful record of grant pursuits is preferred.
The LPAHE Department Head reports to the Dean of the College and works collaboratively with the College leadership team. The Head is responsible for the administration of the department and provides leadership in support of faculty research, teaching, and service efforts; recruits, hires, and supervises faculty and departmental staff; manages departmental budgets; and promotes the department through representation in college, university, and external strategic initiatives. The department head may also engage in research, teaching, publication, externally funded projects, and other professional activities.
Candidates should possess a doctorate in educational leadership or policy studies, higher education, adult education, human resource development, or a closely related field. Experience in outreach, funding agencies, and university administration is desirable.
