Open Position: Director of Career Development

SUNY Geneseo seeks a creative leader, skilled manager, and relationship builder to head its Department of Career Development.  One of seven department heads reporting to the Vice President for Student and Campus Life, the Director of Career Development is responsible for contributing to the fulfillment of the College’s mission to “develop socially responsible citizens with skills and values important to the pursuit of an enriched life and success in the world.”

Specifically, the Director of Career Services:  serves as primary architect of the office vision, mission, and goals and communicates the vision, mission and goals to office staff, students, faculty, staff, employers, and other key constituencies; hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates Assistant Director, Career Counselor, Coordinator of Student Employment, support staff, and occasional intern(s); directs and participates in office efforts designed to provide individual/group advisement and programming for career decision-making, job seeking, and the graduate school application process; develops methodologies to assess to what extent those goals and objectives are being addressed and met.

The successful candidate will possess, at minimum, a master’s degree and a distinguished record of academic achievement.  Preferred candidates should demonstrate a commitment to a rigorous liberal arts education, substantial managerial success, and well-developed program development and networking skills that will be harnessed to transform the Department of Career Development into a model program.

This position entails a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across the College and with the larger community to enhance student career development.
