Job Title: Assistant Professor of Student Affairs Administration

Job Summary: This is a 9-month tenure track faculty position with the likelihood of summer employment. The starting date is August 15, 2012 (fall 2012 semester). The successful candidate will teach primarily in the department’s master’s program in Student Affairs Administration, conduct research, and undertake professional service. There will also be opportunities to teach and serve in ESR’s doctoral programs in Higher Education Administration.  

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach, oversee practicum, and mentor students in master’s level courses in Student Affairs Administration; deliver courses in traditional and nontraditional formats; conduct research and scholarly activities in student affairs administration and higher education; and participate in service.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Completed doctorate in by the time of employment in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in effective teaching and research in Student Affairs Administration and Higher Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong professional identity as evidenced by membership in professional organizations (e.g., ASHE, NASPA, ACPA, AERA);
  • Prior experience in university level teaching;
  • Prior experience conducting research on topics in student affairs administration and higher education;
  • Record of securing external funding;
  • Strong theoretical background in Student Affairs Administration.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of securing external funding;
  • Experience mentoring student research;
  • Scholarly interests and/or willingness to teach/assist in one or more of the following programs: a. Student affairs administration b. foundations of education c. educational research/methods d. adult education
